Representative Salazar, sponsor, presented House Bill 18-1295, concerning modifications to the Colorado Food and Drug Act to allow products containing industrial hemp and establishing that products containing industrial hemp are not adulterated or misbranded by virtue of containing industrial hemp. The bill modifies the act to establish that food and cosmetics are not adulterated because they contain industrial hemp, which codifies a current policy of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE). It also removes the term "cannabis" from the list of substances whose inclusion in a drug or device is deemed misbranded. Representative Salazar responded to questions from the committee.
