Major General H. Michael Edwards, the Adjutant General of Colorado and Executive Director of the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), and Michael T. "Mickey" Hunt, DMVA Deputy Executive Director, presented the DMVA SMART Act report (Attachment A) and Performance Plan (Attachment B).

Senator Scott asked General Edwards about a DMVA facility in the Grand Junction area.

Representative Primavera asked for a breakdown of grant money for Veterans Assistance grants. The Adjutant General responded to the question. The two continued to discuss veterans issues, including veterans services and homeless veterans.

Representative Foote thanked the DMVA for their assistance during the Cold Springs Fire. He also asked for clarification regarding the DMVA's budget. Greg Dorman, DMVA legislative liaison, responded to the question.

Representative Lontine asked about educational programs for veterans.

Representative Ryden thanked the DMVA and asked about women members of the military. The Adjutant General discussed several programs and processes in place to support women in service.

Representative Melton asked about the F35 and whether the state legislature could do anything further to support the DMVA in Colorado. The Adjutant General discussed the F35 downgrade.

Secretary of State Wayne Williams, Deputy Secretary of State Suzanne Staiert, and Gary Zimmerman, Chief of Staff, presented the Department of State SMART Act report as well as several handouts (Attachments C, D, E, F, G, and H).
