Bill 25-1266, concerning the establishment of Colorado American Indian
Recognition Day as an observed state holiday. The bill establishes the
second Monday in October as “Colorado American Indian Recognition Day,”
an observed state holiday. The bill sponsors responded to questions from
the committee and provided a handout (Attachment A) to the committee.

HB25-1229 - Amended, referred to the Committee of the Whole

Representative Soper,
prime bill sponsor, presented House Bill 25-1299, concerning salaries of
elected local officials. The bill allows elected county officers to choose
to receive a salary of any amount lower than the amount set by law, and
also changes the county classification of Mesa County beginning in 2029.
Representative Soper responded to questions from the committee and provided
two handouts (Attachments D and E) to the committee.

HB25-1195 - Amended, referred to House Appropriations

Representative Johnson
and Representative Martinez, co-prime bill sponsors, presented House Bill
25-1195, concerning the ability of a first responder or the spouse of a
first responder to request that the address in their voter registration
records maintained by the county clerk and recorder or the Secretary of
State be kept confidential. The bill requires the Department of State to
create a process for a peace officer or a peace officer’s spouse to request
their voter information be kept confidential. Representative Johnson and
Representative Martinez responded to questions from the committee.
