Senator Donovan, bill sponsor, introduced Senate Bill 19-150.  The bill continues the regulation of public livestock markets.  The bill sponsor and Doug Vilsack, Department of Agriculture, responded to questions from the committee regarding staffing of the program and the impact of the program.

HB19-1217 - Referred to the Committee of the Whole

Senator Court, bill sponsor, introduced House Bill 19-1217.  The bill eliminates the member contribution increase to the Public Employees' Retirement Association (PERA) for local government employees.  Senator Tate, bill sponsor, also commented.

Ron Baker, PERA, explained the intent and impact of the bill.  Mr. Baker responded to questions from the committee regarding the impact on other PERA divisions, PERA's involvement in the negotiation process for Senate Bill 18-200, concerns with the bill, and other pension programs.

Mr. Baker responded to further questions from the committee regarding the size of the local government division, impacts on retirees, and impact on the auto-adjust if the bill does not pass.  Senator Court also commented.
