Senator Gardner, chair, called the committee to order. Senator Kefalas and Senator Gardner, co-prime sponsors, presented House Bill 17-1056, concerning the eligibility of a veterans' service organization to accept public service assignments offered in connection with misdemeanor sentencing. Senator Kefalas explained the bill to the committee, and submitted to the committee a letter from the Larimer County Alternative Sentencing Department (Attachment A).

The committee returned to order. Senator Priola and Senator Jahn, co-prime sponsors, presented House Bill 17-1040, concerning authorizing the interception of communication relating to a crime of human trafficking. Senator Priola explained the bill to the committee.

The committee returned to order. Senator Marble, prime sponsor, presented Senate Bill 17-178, concerning prohibiting a court from requiring a medical-marijuana patient to abstain from the use of marijuana as a condition of parole. Senator Marble explained the reasons for the bill. The committee discussed the bill and other legislation concerning marijuana use.
02:01 PM -- Mr. Jason Warf, representing the Southern Colorado Cannabis Council, testified in support of the bill. He stated that he viewed the bill as a cleanup bill to recent marijuana legalization. He responded to committee questions.
