Representative Holtorf, prime sponsor, introduced House Bill 20-1178, concerning increasing the speed limit on rural state highways where it is safe to do so, and directing the Department of Transportation (CDOT) to identify these highways.  The bill requires CDOT to perform a study of state highways in rural areas starting January 1, 2021 and every 5 years after to identify roads to increase the speed limit to 70 miles per hour without endangering public safety.  The department will submit the report to the committees of reference at the General Assembly.
