BILL SUMMARY For HB19-1011

HOUSE COMMITTEE ON TRANSPORTATION & LOCAL GOVERNMENT
Date Jan 16, 2019       Location HCR 0112

HB19-1011 - Amended, referred to the Committee of the Whole

01:33:03 PM
Representative Hooton introduced HB19-1011 concerning clarification of the scope of an existing sales tax exemption for manufactured homes.  The bill is the result of work in the Statutory Revision Committee.  SB03-182 replaces the existing  definition of "factory-built housing" with a new definition of "factory-built residential structure" including "structures designed to be installed on a permanent foundation."  This definition limits the sales tax exemption for manufactured homes, homes that could be installed on either temporary or permanent foundations.  The bill clarifies that the sales tax exemption is allowed for manufactured homes, a term that a specifically referenced statute defines broadly to include homes designed to be installed on either termporary or permanent foundations.
