Senators Snyder and Liston, bill sponsors, returned to the committee with Senate Bill 25-189, concerning requiring a jury to determine whether a defendant has prior qualifying convictions, for action only.  They recapped the hearing from March 17, 2025, discussed the stakeholding that took place between the two hearings, and offered two amendments.

Committee members asked questions about added terminology and legal protections in the amendment.  The bill sponsors agreed to work on some of these issues as the bill works its way through the process.
