Senator Lee called the meeting to order and announced that the committee will continue the hearing on SB 19-237, which was laid over from April 24, 2019. 

Senator Rodriguez recapped SB 19-237, concerning consumer protection act damages.  He distributed a packet of information about class actions under the Colorado Consumer Protection Act (Attachment A). 

Valerie Schlecht, representing the Colorado Cross Disability Coalition, spoke in support of the bill.

Steven Woodrow, representing himself as a consumer rights lawyer at Woodrow and Peluso, testified in support of the measure.  He discussed class action lawsuits and access to justice.

Committee discussion followed about the Colorado Consumer Protection Act, legislative intent, judicial review, and damages. 

Senator Rodriguez made closing remarks.
