The primary bill
sponsors, Representatives Gilchrist and Stewart K., introduced Senate Bill
26-077 to the House Health and Human Services Committee. The bill requires
that death certification professionals ensure they are aware of the most
recent epilepsy-related death certification recommendations; the Colorado
Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) notify registered users
of the Vital Events System of this requirement; and death certification
professionals ensure that epilepsy is listed as a contributing cause on
a death certificate when an individualâs death is consistent with known
or suspected sudden unexpected death in epilepsy. In addition, the bill
permits the CDPHE to provide online guidelines for clinicians and medical
certifiers for death certificates regarding epilepsy-related deaths. |
