Senator Gonzales
called the committee to order and reviewed the current status of the ethics
complaint against Senate Jaquez Lewis. She noted that the committee had
received Senator Jaquez Lewis' response, as well as many documents requested
by the committee. She noted that Senator Jaquez Lewis resigned from the
Senate on the evening of February 17, 2025, and that the resignation was
effective immediately. She thanked the committee for their service. |

Director Ed DeCecco,
Office of Legislative Legal Services, discussed documents that were provided
to the committee on February 17. He explained that Senator Jaquez Lewis
provided a response, and included several exhibits as attachments to the
response, one of which was shown to be authored by Ms. Anna McLean. Members
of the committee were later contacted by Ms. McLean, who expressed that
she had not written the submitted document. Director Ben FitzSimons, Office
of Legislative Workplace Relations, investigated the issue and determined
that it was more likely than not that Ms. McLean did not write the document.
Director DeCecco explained that Chair Gonzales directed him to follow up
with the individuals names in the other exhibits to determine their authorship.
As of today, he has not heard from any of those indivdiuals. |

stated that because the committee has received Senator Jaquez Lewis' letter
of resignation from the Senate, the committee had no further business. |
