Chris Nevitt, Chair
of the Board of the Front Range Passenfer Rail District (FRPR), introduced
himself as well as Deborah Mulvey, FRPR Board Member. Mr. Nevitt described
what the FRPR is. He described who serves on the board of directors. Ms.
Mulvey described the benefits of intercity rail, including how it can benefit
communities. Mr. Nevitt described how intercity passenger rail is not local
transit. The provided more information about the FRPR program and the choice
to use existing freight corridors to speed up the project. They discusssed
environment and safety concerns. Ms. Mulvey discussed the community and
local business benefits. Mr. Nevitt discussed station locations and partnerships
with local communities. Ms. Mulvey went over accomplishments of the project
to date. Mr. Nevitt explainend that the Service Development Plan (SDP)
is projected to be completed by the end of 2025. Mr. Nevitt discussed ridership
modelling and how the project is for the entire front range, not just Denver.
Ms. Mulvey discussed the partnerships involved and how they are beginning
negotiations with BNSF Railway. She went over the best option for the soonest
rail service. Mr. Nevitt went over next steps for intercity rail on the
FRPR. |
