02:18 PM -- SB 16-162

Senator Tate, bill sponsor, presented the Senate Bill 16-162. The bill changes current law that establishes that Medicaid recipients are not responsible for any remaining costs after payment by Medicaid, Medicare, or a private insurer if the services are eligible for reimbursement under Medicaid. This limitation applies regardless of whether or not the provider is enrolled as a Medicaid provider. Under this bill, Medicaid recipients are not responsible for any remaining costs, only if the services are rendered by a Medicaid provider. Correspondingly, a Medicaid recipient may elect, under the bill, to receive and pay for services from a medical provider that is not enrolled in Medicaid.
