Bill Summary

Current law requires the director of the office of the child's representative, the director of the respondent parents' counsel, and the alternate defense counsel (directors) to be licensed to practice law in Colorado for 5 years prior to being appointed as the director of the respective offices. The bill removes the requirement that the directors be licensed to practice law in Colorado and requires the directors to either be licensed to practice law in Colorado at the time of the appointment or be able to become licensed to practice law in Colorado within 6 months after the appointment.
